Lessons From A Woman Tired of Saying Sorry

It has been one crazy ride of a year.
The best year I've had in several, characterised by feeling secure, being brave, amazing ups and informative downs. I can say that this was a good year with confidence because this year was definitely a year of breakthrough.

On my journey to now, I was often given the impression that breakthrough is something that just falls out of the sky. It was never something that resulted from taking responsibility over your life... it was mysterious & you couldn't do much to control it. I was told to look up and never truly grabbed the concept of how much making the conscious choice to have a better existence could result in exactly that, little by little & moment to moment.

We can't get what we don't make room for.

Now, I know that breakthrough takes prioritising yourself: prioritising your mental & physical health & prioritising your vision.
I know that it takes taking responsibility over the way you think.
It takes some serious focus.
It takes being okay with not explaining yourself & trusting yourself to make good choices.

I also realised that:

Whether You're Right or Wrong, Life Goes On

Arguments suck up both time and energy. Unless the outcome is worth the effort, let it go and let yourself enjoy life anyway. The sun will still come up, time will tick on, no one will even remember & you'll forget. Life will go on whether you're right or wrong.

Fear Is Never A Good Excuse

Fear can be used to grow by overcoming it so when it shows up see it as a chance to grow stronger. If you're turning away from opportunities because you're afraid, you're denying yourself what you want over a feeling, something that can be overcome and it would be a pity to look back and wonder what could've been if only you'd wanted what you wanted more than you feared.

Tell yourself this daily & watch yourself plow through challenges like a champ because you trust that the outcome exists to serve you. Life is such a gift, a gift that we influence greatly by how we think and where we choose to look. There's a saying that goes "Smile at the world and the word will smile right back."

Fail Forward

And fail quickly. Failure is an inevitable part of being a person who takes risks toward a better life. Setting goals and having vision makes you the perfect candidate for failure as much as it does success, so you may as well use it to your advantage. Failure is simply a lesson you won't have to learn again if you take heed.

Be Grateful

Gratitude heals, it restores & it creates vision. Allow yourself to be thankful for who you are, where you are & what you have & watch  the quality of your life get better. I dare say that there's always something to be grateful for.

So all in all, taking responsibility is not a burden - it's freedom because when you do that , you have the power to determine what happens next.  This year has really shown me that self-love in the form of taking care of yourself first before attending to another really is the beginning of a fulfilling life.

I'm looking forward to the year ahead.
 Take care and keep well.
'Til 2017...
